About SLMAQ

Sri Lankans of Muslim heritage have been residing in Queensland for at least half a century. There are approximately 100 families residing in Queensland, and potentially another 25-30 students studying at various universities and colleges across Queensland. The SLMAQ aims to provide for the welfare of Sri Lankan Muslims in Queensland, Australia.

The Logo

The core shape of the logo is a blue water lily, which represents the Sri Lankan national flower. The center petal has a slight point to resemble a dome-like shape, a common element found in Islamic architecture. The combination of these two elements gives the logo a distinct and recognisable shape, unique to the SLMAQ.

Each colour of the logo represents an aspect of SLMAQ. Maroon is a colour to represent Queensland. Green is used to represent Islam/Muslims and the Blue/Purple colour represents the colour of the water lily, which is a symbol of Sri Lankan.
